Jenn completed her Master's Degree in Secondary Education with a
concentration on Biology in 2003. She hopes to eventually teach science at the
High School level. As the head of our Nursing Department, Jenn is responsible for seeing that everything runs smoothly and that patient care is always of the highest order. She ensures that staffing is adequate for the case load, develops protocols for procedures, and oversees equipment maintenance and supply inventory. All of this in addition to her share of patient care. Jenn is also our resident expert in the care, feeding and grooming of pet birds. When not busy with her duties at IWVC, Jenn likes to spend time at home with her husband, who is a Deputy Sheriff, their two young children, and their pets, Hollywood (an African Grey Parrot) Quinn, (Domestic Shorthair cat) and Makai (German Shepherd).
Jenn's favorite charity is the German Shepherd Rescue of Southeastern Pennsylvania, where she acquired Makai. |

Melissa came to IWVC in 2002. A Council Rock High School graduate, Melissa attended Delaware Valley College. She hopes to someday pursue her education in veterinary technology. As our senior Veterinary Assistant, Melissa keeps appointments running smoothly by greeting clients and pets, taking a preliminary history, and preparing the supplies and equipment needed by the doctor. She also runs laboratory tests and fills prescriptions. In the Treatment Area, Melissa helps with patient care, assisting our technicians with x-rays, collection of specimens for the laboratory and administration of medications. Melissa's house is crowded with her pets: two Boston Terriers, Apollo & Winston, a French Bulldog, Rocco, 5 cats: Gemini, Prowler, Iroc, Samurai, & Sierra, a ferret, Wheezee a Cockatiel, Lorilei and a parakeet, Eowyn. Back home with parents Jim and Diane are sister Chrissy, two dogs, Bastian and Jessie, and six cats, Catera, Ranger, Durango, Aurora, Scully & Mulder. Melissa's interests include cars, travel and rescuing homeless animals. She also has a successful pet- and house-sitting business. According to Melissa, "Animals make life's bad days easier to deal with." |
Not surprisingly, Carolyn has many occasions to make use of her background in psychology, dealing with stressed or grieving clients. Her calm and caring manner helps get them through the rough times. Although she enjoys client contact, Carolyn especially likes surgical nursing, where she gets to use the various skills she has learned in school and on the job. Carolyn and husband, Jon, a clinical psychologist, have two offspring. Anna is completing her Master's Degree in Public Health and Social Work at the University of Pittsburgh. Joe is completing his Master's Degree in Criminology at John Jay University. Still at home are 4 rescued cats. In her spare time, Carolyn enjoys playing tennis and travel. Her charitable work includes supporting the rescue organization Save The Cats. |
